Elder Patriot – Back in January of 2016, we discussed the bombshell revelations that it wasn’t only Hillary Clinton who had blood on her hands after Benghazi but that Barack Obama was more than likely the person who gave the orders demanding the response teams that had already deployed to turn back.
On her show, “Full Measure,” Attkisson looked into the aborted rescue mission in an in-depth two-part report, “Rescue Interrupted,” which you can watch here and here. She spoke with a Green Beret commander who told her that there were actually Special Forces on their way to Benghazi who were turned back.
Col. Andrew Wood had once commanded a Special Forces anti-terrorism team protecting Ambassador Chris Stevens and other diplomats in Libya. In October of 2012, Woods told Congress that one month before the attacks in Benghazi, his team had been removed from Libya by the Obama administration, despite the numerous warnings of impending terrorist attacks.
The Obama administration ordered the removal of the elite unit protecting Ambassador Stevens and his staff and, in the process exposed the CIA outpost at a time that intelligence reports told them the threat level had been raised to critical.
This by itself raises serious questions in light of the intelligence reports warning of a terrorist strike, Ambassador Stevens practically begging the State Department for more additional security, and in light of the eventually outcome.
Those questions were heightened by Col. Wood’s assertion that Special Forces that had already been deployed to Benghazi on that fateful night were turned back under orders from the White House command center:
“Those individuals I know loaded aircraft and got on their way to Benghazi to respond to that incident. They were not allowed to cross the border as per protocol until they got approval from the commander in chief,” Wood explained. “That authority has to come from him or they’re not allowed to enter the country.”
President Obama steadfastly denied that this occurred. Now Catherine Herridge of Fox News has gotten more information that Obama deliberately stripped Ambassador Stevens of his protection ahead of the attacks.
Yesterday, Herridge spoke with two principals of Torres Security whose security contractors had previously provided protection for the U.S. embassy in Benghazi but were relieved of that charge only one month before the September 11th attacks that took the lives of four Americans including the ambassador.
“In the spring of 2012, Torres bid on the security contract for the State Department compound in Benghazi, but the nearly $700,000 deal, handled by State Department contracting officer Jan Visintainer, went to a mysterious foreign company Blue Mount Group. The guards were local hires through another company and not armed,” Herridge reported.
Brad Owens, a former Army intelligence officer and a principal of Torres said that Blue Mountain Group was “a teeny tiny little security company registered in Wales that had never had a diplomatic security contract, had never done any high-threat contracts anywhere else in the world that we’ve been able to find.”
After the deadly attack, Hillary Clinton’s State Department silenced representatives of Torres Security on talking publicly about the Benghazi lapses.
Herridge: Was the State Department contract officer trying to silence you?
Joe Torres (Principal): Oh absolutely. The U.S. ambassador is dead and nobody is held accountable for it. She (Visintainer) said that I, and people from Torres should not speak to the media, should not speak to any officials with respect to the Benghazi program. We had about 8,000 employees at the time and we just didn’t need that level of damage because these guys–their livelihood rely on the company.
Herridge confirmed that Fox News received a classified cable in October 2012 a month after the attack that revealed Libya ambassador Chris Stevens and his team knew they more security as early as mid-August and that they had warned the State Department that radical Islamist groups were everywhere.
“They were sending these cables back to the contracting guys and the decision makers back here and they weren’t responding,” Owens. “It’s gross incompetence or negligence, one of the two.”
Owens continued saying that those “who made the poor choices that actually, I would say, were more responsible for the Benghazi attacks than anyone else, they’re still in the same positions, making security choices for our embassies overseas now.”
Hillary got a free pass. Obama got a free pass. At least they’re both gone. But, Obama’s underlings – those guilty of gross incompetence and gross negligence in carrying out Obama’s orders – are still being paid by us and still making life and death policy decisions against the best interests of our overseas personnel.
